One detail surrounding the DCU suggests that its version of Supergirl might be poised to reshuffle 60 years’ worth of DC lore. After kicking things off with what promises to be an interesting take on Superman’s story in Superman, the DCU looks poised to continue treading new ground with some DC characters that are unaccustomed to big-screen live-action. Among them are The Authority, the Teen Titans, and Supergirl herself. Moreover, DC Studios Co-Ceo James Gunn has asserted that the current DCU release slate is just scratching the surface of what’s to come in DC’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
So far, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is the only DCU movie other than Superman to have a star attached to the titular role in the form of House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock. With both characters revealed, this hints that Supergirl may appear in Superman alongside her Kryptonian cousin. More importantly for fans of another upcoming DC movie, her own solo project could set up a change to her DC history that gives her a new home in the DCU.
