Following the cult success of Ma (2019), Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures return for a sequel. With the original film’s $5 million budget grossing over $61 million worldwide, a sequel was greenlit with a higher budget of around $15 million to allow for a more expansive and intense psychological horror experience. Tate Taylor returns to direct, with Octavia Spencer reprising her chilling role.

Plot Concept
Though Ma (2019) ended with Sue Ann (Octavia Spencer) seemingly burning alive, her body was never recovered. In Ma 2, a group of young influencers and thrill-seekers investigate the abandoned house where Sue Ann once terrorized teenagers. Their prank livestream turns into a nightmare when they realize someone is still watching them—and leaving sinister messages.
It turns out Sue Ann survived, heavily scarred and more psychologically broken than ever. Now, she seeks revenge against a new generation of unsuspecting victims. However, there’s a twist—she’s not working alone this time. A copycat “Ma” emerges, even more dangerous than Sue Ann, forcing her to question her own legacy.
